New photos.

We have been driving around the area and have found some really niece photo ops. The weather has finally been warm and we have been cleaning the campsite here in the campground in preperation of opening day May 3rd. Today the weather was great temps in the 40's and 50's. Here that is warm. lol
We have a fishing pond here in the campground and we have three pairs of Candian Geese setting on nests, can't wait till the eggs hatch to take pics. So far they are too far away to get good photos. there is a small island in the middle of the pond and that is where they are. but we have seen a lot of river turtles. had to rescue one today from the middle of the road. He hissed and snapped at me when I picked him up. No sense of gratitude at all LOL. We took some pics of the countryside around Hwy 79 south of Hannibal. In the bottomlands. and we took some in historic Hannibal, where they dropped concrete gates into slots of concrete in the levy at the railroad tracks  between the river, tracks and the town. The water is up to the control arms of the RR crossings. The Mississippi River has really flooded this year, about 18 feet above normal flood stage. We had winds and rain and looks like we will have more rain next week, the trees are getting ready to burst into bloom and flowers are all blossoms, just waiting for enough sun and some warm temps and they will explode.  Hope all is well with friends and family. will write more later

Some of the beautiful countryside, At least some of what we have been able to see when weather is clear.

RAIN.........AGAIN LOL

Well, we finally have the wi-fi issue solved. We have had wet weather here more than we have had dry weather. We had some severe thunder storms here on wednesday the 12th, heavy winds and about 2.5 inches in about three hours. But we are ready for that kind of weather thanks to the people at the Army Corps of Engineers here at the lake. We have a NOAA weather radio with battery backup, our 72n hour kit, a place nearby to go if a tornado should come this far north but it is very unlikely. The one tornado on Wed. was about 120 miles south of us near St Louis. They don't get this far north very often. The last one anywhere near here was 5 years ago and it was 150 miles west of here. so we are good. The weather was great today and we actually did a little fishing in the pond here in the campground. As soon as weather permits, I will get more photos and post them. We celebrated our 3rd anniversary on Thursday by going to a gun show in Columbia and having dinner aat Cracker Barrel. we are really having fun on our adventure. more later

This is the nearest town to where we are and its about the size of all the towns around this part of Missouri, with the exception of places like Hannibal, Jefferson City and St. Louis. we are about 30 miles from Hannibal and about 1hr and 45 mins from St Louis.Thes photos are of Perry, MO about 8 miles from the campground.  You have UPTOWN ( up the hill shot) and then you have DOWNTOWN (down the hill shot) lol this town has a very small IGA grocery store, a gas station, post office, bar ( of course) and a lot of "antique" shops. :)

Here are some photos of what we woke up to the second day we arrived at Mark Twain Lake. We had a total of 10 inches of snow in two days. It was so prettty and just a little cold but we snuggled down and enjoyed it. The third day we went driving around just looking.
